30 Inspiring September Journal Prompts (+ Ideas)
September is my favorite month to journal with the cooler evenings and back-to-school vibes that inspire new beginnings.
And if you haven’t journaled in awhile, September is the perfect time to get back into the writing habit.
The long autumn nights, cozy blankets and spiced coffees are the perfect setting for an introspective journaling session.
The falling leaves and chilly weather mark the start of a slower, darker season that’s perfect to dive some deep journal prompts.

I’ve been journaling for decades and it’s changed my life – from helping me stay organized to managing anxiety.
And I love to use monthly journal prompts to help me to savor and appreciate the season. Prompts are also great for those days when you’re battling writer’s block and just don’t know what to journal about.
If you need some new topics to reignite your journaling session – then use these prompts to supercharge your last few weeks of summer.
Writing in a journal every day:
- boosts your confidence
- improves your self-esteem
- makes you more creative
- helps you manage anxiety and depression
- helps you sleep better
- lowers your blood pressure
